Venerable Francisco Marto of Fatima
Product Code: BK2905By: Msgr. Joseph A. Cirrincione
In an immediate and graphic manner, Sister Lucia, in Fatima In Lucia's Own Words - from which this booklet is excerpted - describes the life and character of her cousin Ven. Francisco Marto and the effect which the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima had upon him. The first of the Fatima visionaries to die, Francisco displayed a response to these apparitions and their messages that was profoundly different from that of his sister Ven. Jacinta Marto, who also died at a very tender age. Whereas Facinta was constantly offering sacrifices and prayers for the conversion of sinners, Francisco offered his prayers and sacrifices "to console OUr Lord," who was very sad. It was Francisco and not Jacinta who prompted Lucia to avoid being swept into a social whirl after the visions, and it was the prayers of Francisco that effected several "miraculous" answers to prayer for various supplicants with serious problems. All of these factors, and others recounted here, give profound indication that Francisco Marto and solidly entered upon the way of sanctity and that he does not represent a merely "contrived" or "imagined" saint. This is a warm, beautiful, inspiring story, typical of everything we know about Fatima.
