Our Lady of Charity appeared to two Native American brothers and a child were bringing salt to preserve the meat used to supply the workers and inhabitants of El Cobre. While out on the bay, a storm arose and started rocking the boat. The child was wearing a medal of the Virgin Mary. The men prayed to Our Lady for protection, and the storm cleared. A statue began to float towards them and it was of Oru Lady holding Jesus with a cross in her right hand. The statue was kept at the chapel of Our Lady of Charity in El Cobre.
